Based on 
's Alien Jewel tutorial that you can find here, but I decided to try for 3D.
Apophysis 3DHack and post-work with Gimp, as usual.
Full-size is 1304x774 and available for dowload. I have also made a without-frame version of this which I find better as a wallpaper. If anyone is interested, I could post it in dA as well.
